Small Point Café
Nestled in the heart of downcity Providence is this little gem of a coffee shop. Small Point cafe is a rare mix of great coffee, top notch atmosphere, and a space that is equally suited for the long work session as well as the coffee date with that person you just started talking to on Bumble.
I have my coupon prepared and I’m ready to get some iced coffee.
One of the first things I notice is this game cubby. Now I want to come back with a group of friends and play Settlers of Catan! Hmm, that sounds like a fun way to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon.
The baristas are friendly here, and the coffee is very good. This is my kind of iced coffee. There’s a full bodied rich taste and I can tell it’s strong. I could use some caffeine today after a long weekend of partying hard with friends. No, I’m just kidding. I actually had to clean my house. LATE SPRING CLEANING IS THE BEST. 🙁
What did I put in there? Some cream, a bit of simple syrup, and a little honey. The honey was a nice bonus.
The atmosphere is wonderful in here. High ceilings, brick walls and multiple plants all converge to create a warm enticing environment that you just want to stay in all day, and you can if you really wanted to. This place is great! Now if only the parking situation was a bit better…there is no dedicated parking, and most of the street parking is metered parking.
Don’t give up however, if you are staying for less than two hours there’s hope! From their website:
FREE 2 hour validated parking is available most days, monday-saturday 10am-6pm, free on sunday. Grant’s Block parking lot 191 Weybosset St. near Union
Pro Tip: parking is free in the city on Sundays, so if you live outside of Providence, Sunday is a great day to venture over.

Summary
- The coffee is very good and has that strong taste I love.
- The atmosphere excellent: A modern slight granola vibe I really dig.
- This would be a great place to meet a friend or two as long as you can all find parking. If you live in the city, then it’s a no-brainer. Plus games!
- This seems like a very good spot for a first meeting or coffee date.
- Good for getting work done, although it isn’t super large so it might be full when you get here, and most of the tables are small, so keep that in mind.
This is another top tier coffee shop that is worth visiting. Indoor and outdoor seating make it a great place to go for the summer, while great coffee and a really nice aesthetic solidify it as one of the best in Providence. They also take extra care to be environmentally friendly from what I’ve seen, with things like plant straws that are made from 100% compostable material.
